Miami vs. Notre Dame – Chicago Guide

Will you be heading to Chicago this weekend for the big game?

I’m no Chicago expert but I have been there a couple of times and thought why not share some insight as to what you can see and what you can do when before and after the game.  If you’ve been there, feel free to use the comment section below to let fellow Canes know about events, or other fun and interesting things to do in the Windy City.

Also, if you want to find some fellow Canes, check out the Chicago Alumni Clubs Websitehttp://www.miamialumni.net/chicago or find them on Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/groups/15380605229/

What to see and where to go:

Navy Pier

Last time I was in Chicago, our hotel was pretty close to Navy Pier, so we decided to walk over and check it out.  If it’s a nice fall afternoon, early evening, check out the beer garden.  They’ve got lots of brews flowing and a band playing.  It’s also a great

place to people watch and hang out before you head out to dinner.

The Chicago River

Take an architecture tour on the Chicago River.

Millennium Park

You will find”The Bean”, beautiful gardens, and a very familiar fountain and tons of great picture taking spots here.

And there’s lots more, here’s a great guide to the city:  Frommers Chicago (click on suggested itineraries on the left side of the page, and click in two days and in three days depending on how many days you will be there)

Where to eat:

Wrigleyville:

Even though baseball season will be over, you can still head over to Wrigleyville to check out the stadium and tons of great little shops and restaurants.  One of my favorites was a random place we found on our walk back to our hotel after a game, make sure to check out Sheffield’s – http://www.sheffieldschicago.com/index.html or another brew pub to check out is Goose Island – http://www.gooseisland.com/pages/wrigleyville_brewpub/66.php

Deep Dish Pizza:

And there’s lots more.  Chicago has some amazing food so make sure to do some research before you head out there.

Enjoy Chicago DC Canes!  And for those of you staying in the DMV, we’ll see you at Mackey’s!
