Fellow DC Canes,
We would like to thank the over 400 people who attended the Impact of U event last Wednesday featuring President Donna Shalala! It was a thrill to see so many Canes in attendance and we hope that it has you enthusiastic for more events of that nature in the area! We have a pretty busy month of May, so please see below for more information about what we got still to come in the next few weeks!
As a reminder, we are accepting nominations for the 2013-14 DC Canes leadership board. If you would like to nominate yourself or someone else for a position, please send a brief description of the position(s) and why you would be good in that role to Donald at firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject heading “Board Nominations” no later than Thursday, May 9th at 11:59pm. Descriptions of board positions and board requirements can be found on the DC Canes website.
Join DC Canes at our Annual Meeting to meet the 2013-14 leadership board and to learn more about what’s coming up for DC Canes in the next year! This will also be a chance for people to share their ideas for how DC Canes can better serve them. The meeting will be at Alston & Bird, 950 F Street NW on Thursday, May 16th at 6:30pm (Special thanks to Gary Ross for securing the space!). To RSVP, as space is limited, please send an email with the subject heading “Annual Meeting” to Donald at email@example.com no later than 11:59pm on Thursday, May 9th.
Toppel in the City
The Toppel Center is starting a new initiative right here in DC to expand their efforts to alums living in and around our area! Their first Toppel in the City networking event will take place on Tuesday, May 21st at 6:30pm at Lima Lounge, 1401 K Street NW. Registration is $15 and includes one complimentary drink, appetizers and a night of networking. For more information and to register, head to the Toppel Center registration page.
GOLDstein Challenge Rally
Young Alums! We are in a big challenge with the Boston Canes chapter to win our own personalized brick in the new Alumni Center. As part of this challenge within the GOLDstein Challenge, we are hosting a giving rally on Wednesday, May 29th at The Hamilton, which is located at the NW corner of 14th & F Streets NW (time TBD). So, gather your classmates in the area and make a donation of any size to make sure you are counted (all undergraduates from years 2003-2013 count towards this total) and let’s have DC Canes forever memoralized on the bricks of the Alumni Center!
