Welcome to September! With football season in full swing, September will be a busy month. Please read on for the events we have coming up this month and beyond!
Football Watch Parties at Penn Quarter Sports Tavern!
Football season is now in full swing! Join us every for every televised Hurricanes Football game at Penn Quarter Sports Tavern (639 Indiana Avenue NW, located across the street from Archives Metro Station). With several drink and food specials to satisfy your thirst and taste buds, come on out and relive the Canes game day experience! Stay tuned to our Facebook page, Twitter and our website for updates every week on game times and any additional specials.
For the Florida game this Saturday, we will utilize the entire bar (upstairs, downstairs and outside). PQST opens at 10:00am Saturday, so arrive early to get a seat! As always, we will be doing raffles at halftime during each watch party to raise money for the Marty Pearl Memorial Scholarships, so come out for your chance to win some great Miami gear and support our book scholarships in the process. We’ll see you at PQST!
Welcome to the Neighborhood Event, Thursday, September 12th
We invite you to join us on September 12th at our Welcome to the Neighborhood event! This event is brand new and part of a national effort with a focus on alumni who are new to the area or who have not been involved with their local alumni club and want to stay connected to the U! It’s being done simultaneously in more than 20 cities nationwide!
Please attend and network with your fellow ‘Canes, learn about alumni club initiatives in your area, and talk with our alumni club leadership and Young Alumni Leadership Council about how you can get more involved in your neighborhood! We need your involvement, ideas and energy in your area to maximize the potential of our worldwide network of alumni.
We will have drink specials to include $3 domestic beers, $4 microbrews/imports, $5 rail drinks, and $6 house wines. There is are also $3 Coors Light/Banquet and $4 Blue Moons.

DC Canes has plenty of great events coming up, but we need funds to keep the momentum going! Dues are $25 for individuals or $40 for couples. We will be unveiling some dues paying benefits in the next couple months that only paid members will be able to take advantage of, so don’t delay!
To pay dues online, please send money via PayPal to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject heading, “Dues.” In the comments section, please provide your name (or the name of you and your spouse if paying a couples membership) and your email address. DC Canes memberships are good for 1 year from the date of payment. We will also accept checks at any DC Canes event (checks made payable to DC Canes). Please consult our blog post on paying dues via check for more information.

Save The Date – ACC Happy Hour November 4th
With football season now in full swing and with basketball season approaching, the 16 local alumni chapters of the Atlantic Coast Conference are proud to announce our next happy hour! The happy hour will take place on Monday, November 4th, from 6:00 – 8:30 pm at BlackFinn DC (1620 I Street NW).
We will have the Trophy Room reserved and several drink specials: $3 Miller Lite, Blue Moon and Flying Dog drafts, $4 rail drinks, $5 house wines, and $6 specialty cocktails. These specials will run for the entirety of our event. RSVP via the Facebook event and invite your ACC friends. Save the date: November 4th at BlackFinn DC!
