Are you interested in becoming more involved in DC Canes? This is your opportunity! DC Canes is calling for nominations for members interested in helping to lead the chapter during the 2014-15 year. We are accepting nominations for all positions except for President.
You can find a description of the various DC Canes positions below. Board member requirements include attending at least 50% of board meetings, planning and executing 2 DC Canes events and being a paid DC Canes member.
If you wish to nominate yourself or someone else for any position(s), please send your nomination to email@example.com with the subject heading “DC Canes Nomination”. Be sure to include a short explanation of why you or the person you are nominating would be a good fit for the board. Nominations will be accepted until Friday, April 18th at 5:00pm.
DC CANES BOARD POSITION DESCRIPTIONS
President: Responsibilities include working with the club’s officers to develop a calendar of events and representing DC Canes at UM Alumni Association meetings and events. He/she serves as the primary liaison with the UM Alumni Association.
Vice-President: Responsibilities include serving as President-Elect for DC Canes and performing the duties of President upon the President’s request or in his/her absence.
Secretary: Responsibilities include keeping a complete and current membership list as well as preparing minutes from all DC Canes meetings for DC Canes members.
Treasurer: Responsibilities include, developing and maintaining, with the help of the officers, the DC Canes budget for the year. He/she collects all membership dues and other contributions and assists the secretary with maintaining the membership list.
Immediate Past President: Provides additional support to the current President and the rest of the DC Canes board.
Professional & Social Networking Chair (PRIDE): Responsibilities include organizing professional and social networking events.
Recruiting Students & Scholarship Fundraising (PRIDE): Responsibilities include organizing programs, such as summer send-offs for students in the area starting at UM in the fall. He/she also serves as the DC Canes liaison with Miami Circle leaders and helps them staff upcoming college fairs and information sessions in the DC area.
Ibis, Sports Related Programming (PRIDE): Responsibilities include organizing programs, such as game watch events, trips to UM games played locally, and area recreational sports
Devotion to Community (PRIDE): Responsibilities include organizing community service events in the DC area for fellow UM alumni.
Education of Alumni (PRIDE): Responsibilities include organizing programs and events that promote continuous education and learning amongst UM alumni.
Young Alumni: Responsibilities include organizing programs that cater to alumni who have graduated from UM in the past 10 years.
CAN/AFLA-DC Representative: Responsibilities include representing DC Canes at all meetings and events for the Capital Alumni Network and All Florida Alumni of DC.
At Large (2-4): Responsibilities include assisting fellow board members at all DC Canes meetings and events.
